Roak- A Local Royal Oak Brewery

After a long day of staring at my computer, I was relieved and happy to get a text from a good friend of mine. She suggested trying out a newly opened local brewery in Royal Oak called, Roak, located at 330 E. Lincoln Avenue. A night out? Needless to say, I was in! Roak is a local brewery in Royal Oak, Mi. ind our review of many other local places at www.soshalclub.com

The brewery Roak has alot to offer. Fun atmosphere, great food and even better, great beer! I am the first to admit, I’m not even close to an expert, but I know what I like. Most of the time I go along with what the waitress or bartenders recommend or go with something safe that I’ve had before.

We figured hey, new brewery, let’s try as many as possible.  We started out with a flight, a selection of 6 beers of our choosing. We chose Powerboat (Belgian White), Mean Street (amber),Devil Dog (oatmeal stout), Kashmir (Belgian Dark), and two specialty beers Firken of Devil Dog (Devil Dog infused with Vanilla bean) and Melonfest (cantaloupe American Wheat).Find a new local hangout at www.soshalclub.com It’s funny I thought the Powerboat or the Melonfest would be my favorite, but, surprisingly I loved the Kashmir and my friend loved the Devil Dog! So after plowing our way through the rest of our flight, we each ordered a glass of our favorite!

We sat in the middle of the bar area, we were pleased to find we could still talk to each other without having to yell. The whole place had a cool vibe, very much a friendly neighborhood hangout. There was a nice mix to the busy brewery crowd with families mixing with people of all ages. So two thirsty chicks fit right in.Find a new local hangout at www.soshalclub.com

We tried the pretzel sticks, served with a cheese spread and a spicy mustard dipping sauce. These were a  total winner. The pretzels meshed perfectly with all the beers and kept us from getting too boozy!  This was especially important as we moved on to the glasses of our favorites! We also had a pizza. Which we found delicious! It had a nice crisp crust and yummy toppings.Looking for a great place to eat and drink check out Roak and other cool hangouts at www.soshalclub.com

We agreed we will both be coming back for a return visit in the near future. All in all Roak is a nice addition to the many bars and restaurants in the Downtown Royal Oak area. So give it a try and let us know if you love it too! Cheers!
